Infantile Games Biomimetic Approach
The forms of nature are incorporated into the design of these children’s games, encouraging the growth of perception and imagination. The objective for the design of this group of infantile games is to provide a point of attraction for children through elements that are based on animal forms. The design seeks to integrate the garden, or open common areas, with the formal elements of some arthropods. The proposals generated are a result of a study of the relationship between common objects of use and their users. This group of infantile games suggest a natural connection with the environment, as they incorporate design patterns or models that repeat constantly in nature – on trees, clouds, flowers, insects, and so on. This assures that things have an inherent organization to them. These patterns comfort the human mind, which tends to search for familiar things in this chaotic world. The relationship between children and nature is more open at an early age, as the former begin to develop their perceptive capacities and knowledge of the world. Incorporating the patterns of nature into the design allows children to have a more objective vision of nature and everyday life. The main advantage is that this group of infantile games offers figurative references that stimulate the minds of children and give free rein to their imaginations and creativity. A relationship between nature and life can be nurtured, as they create affective bonds with nature, just as the “insects” adapt to the life and context of the gardens they are in. By using models from nature, the link between the user, product and the environment can be more pleasant.
